The top hat in this pairing has the wide band lathing pattern on the top and underneath and the bottom hat is brush finished on the top only. The top is undersized by a millimeter or two, which helps prevent airlock and tone inconsistencies which can happen when the hats 'meet' differently under differing playing conditions.

The top hat is light and dark and the bottom hat increases projection and body.
